Three Properties Approved for Protection

The Florida Governor and Cabinet approved funding for the permanent conservation of 77,877 acres within and adjacent to the Florida Wildlife Corridor during the June 10, 2025 Cabinet meeting.

On June 10, the State of Florida approved funding for the permanent conservation of 77,877 acres across three properties within and adjacent to the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

Thank you to the leadership of the landowners, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Shield Properties, and other partners for coming together to make these opportunities possible.

The properties are Tumlin Property (Photo 1), Raiford to Osceola Greenway – Weyerhaeuser Forest Holdings, Inc. (Photo 2), and Camp Blanding to Raiford Greenway – Blackbottom Holdings, LLC (Photo 3).

Raiford to Osceola Greenway and Camp Blanding to Raiford Greenway are to be protected through conservation easements funded through Florida Forever at the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The Tumlin Property is a rural lands conservation easement protected through the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The 61,389 acres Raiford to Osceola Greenway Project / Weyerhaeuser Forest Holdings, Inc., located in the Florida Wildlife Corridor, was recently approved for a conservation easement through Florida Forever at the June 10 meeting of the Governor and Cabinet.

Thank you to the landowner and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for coming together to conserve this property.

The Raiford to Osceola Greenway Project provides a vital connection in the Ocala to Osceola Wildlife Corridor and the Florida Wildlife Corridor. The property is a working timberland. Protecting the land will help safeguard forested wetlands, basin swamp, wildlife habitats and connectivity, water quality, and two large bodies of water, Lake Palestine and Swift Creek Lake. The property provides habitat for gopher tortoise, black bear, red-cockaded woodpecker, eastern indigo snake, bald eagle, and many more species.

The 14,743-acre Camp Blanding to Raiford Greenway Project / Blackbottom Holdings, LLC, located in the Florida Wildlife Corridor, was recently approved for a conservation easement at the June 10 meeting of the Governor and Cabinet.

Thank you to the landowner, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and Shield Properties for coming together to conserve this property.

The Camp Blanding to Raiford Greenway Project will enhance connectivity in the Ocala to Osceola Wildlife Corridor as it borders the Raiford Wildlife Management Area and the Raiford to Osceola Greenway Project conservation easement. The property is a working timberland. The headwaters of the New River, a tributary to the Santa Fe River, originate in the northwestern part of the lands and run along the western boundary. The land provides habitat to Florida black bear, red-cockaded woodpecker, bald eagle, and more.

The Tumlin Property has been newly approved for a rural lands conservation easement through the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program at the June 10 meeting of the Governor and Cabinet. The easement is 1,745 acres and located adjacent to the Florida Wildlife Corridor.

Thank you to the landowner and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for coming together to make this conservation easement possible.

The Tumlin property is a working timberland with natural areas also located on the property, including 1,600 feet frontage on Lake Lilly. The land provides habitat for many species including black bears, gopher tortoises, and osprey.
